John Burnaby
John Burnaby (1891-1978) won a scholarship in classics from Haileybury College to Trinity College, Cambridge, obtaining a first class degree in the Tripos. He joined the Army in 1914, learning of his award of a Fellowship at Trinity while in the Dardanelles. Wounded on the Somme, he returned to Trinity, and served successively as Junior Dean, Junior Bursar, Tutor, Senior Tutor, and after ordination in 1941 as Dean of Chapel.
