After becoming a full-time caregiver for her youngest daughter, who was born medically complex, Joanna was inspired to write children's books that talk (and teach) about medical conditions. Throughout the years of their medical journey, she saw a real need for books about kids with chronic illnesses. Roughly 14 million children in the U.S. today struggle with a chronic illness.
