Jim Cunningham is a 28 year veteran of the El Cajon Police Department. He retired as a lieutenant in 2005. During his career, he worked many assignments, including sex crimes, child abuse and homicide. While the stories in this book "bear no resemblance to persons living or dead," they may bear a striking resemblance to his own experiences, including investigative technique, gun battles and his dedication to "his" victims and "echo victims" in serious crimes, including murder. Jim is an internationally published author and graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #212 where he studies, among other subjects, psycho-sexual serial offenders. His first book, CHASING SMOKE, the first of the Jim Lansing series, rolled out to high acclaim for its strikingly realism and hard-boiled insight into the investigation of a rape/homicide series which, like MELTING ICE, can only be related by one who has been there, seen the blood, smelled the death and taken on the burden of responsibility for victims who can not longer fight for themselves. Jim still lives in El Cajon, California, where he writes with a passion to educate and enlighten about the tremendous and the treacherous, the excellent and the flawed, and the personal sacrifice made by plain people working in extraordinary environments, police officers. God bless them all. Where would we be without those who bleed blue? See less
