JD Hansard Jr. received a Ph. D. in mathematics from the University of Arkansas in 1969. He taught at Radford University for 30 years and after retirement, he and his wife Elise moved to Roanoke, Virginia to be near their two children and six grandchildren. He occasionally writes for the Charleston Express in Arkansas and the Roanoke Times in Virginia.
