Janet Kitz began research on the Halifax Explosion in 1980. Two exhibits on the disaster at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where she is a research associate, displayed the results of her research. In 2004, she received an honorary doctorate of letters from St. Mary s University. Originally from Carnwath, Scotland, she moved to Nova Scotia in 1971, and currently resides in Halifax. See less
