Meanwhile, she writes fiction and poetry. While raising 5 sons, her professions ran the gamut from teacher to laundress for hire, to executive director of a non-profit. Her weekly newspaper column, Homefront, chronicled her life as a mother, teacher, and writer for over ten years.
