Colonel James Wilhite is professor emeritus from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He has also served more than thirty-nine years in the Army Reserve. Colonel James Wilhite is professor emeritus from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He has also served more than thirty-nine years in the Army Reserve. A non-commissioned officer rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class and Senior Drill Sergeant at the Drill Sergeant Academy, Wilhite was selected twice as his division's Drill Sergeant of the Year. Later, commissioned as an officer, Wilhite served various assignments from training officer to battalion commander and eventually as a liaison officer for the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 2004-2005 Colonel Wilhite was able to utilize his educational experience both in the military and civilian world to successfully accomplish what was called an impossible assignment.
