James Herbert

James Herbert, one of six children, was born and raised in Ohio. He graduated from the University of Dayton as valedictorian of his class. He went on to earn a PhD in the history of ideas from Brandeis University. After a career in university teaching, he worked at the College Board in New York City and then at the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, DC.
