Jacqui Smith is Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan, a Senior Research Scientist in the Centre for Lifespan psychology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, and a Professor of Psychology at the Free University of Berlin, where she coordinated a doctoral program on the Psychiatry and Psychology of Aging from 1999 to 2004. In addition, she is currently the Deputy Director of the International Max Planck Research Network on Aging. Her research focus is on psychological well-being and cognitive development and change in adulthood and aging and encompasses experimental studies as well as longitudinal survey methods. In particular, she is known for her research associated with the longitudinal and multidisciplinary Berlin Aging Study (BASE), in which she co-directed the Psychology Unit together with Paul B.
