Jacqueline Ruiz was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut all her life. Growing up, she would spend her summer vacations in Quito and Riobamba, Ecuador. These were the happiest moments of her life (Until she meant and fell in love with her future husband and son, of course!). She was exposed to a different way of life; one that was more humble and serene. In June 2012, she decided to move to Ecuador to pursue her writing career, one she had put off for almost 10 years after graduating from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She always said she wanted to write full-time, but never did, until that year. Three months after arriving in Ecuador, she met her now husband. They married in May 2013 and remained in Ecuador until they both came back to Connecticut in March 2014. Their first child was born a month later. Besides writing, she enjoys reading, watching TV and movies, taking pictures, making handmade cards and crafts, listening to all different types of music, and spending time with her husband, son, and family. After There are No Happy Endings Here: Tales of Love, Loss, and the Occult, she wants to focus on children's books so little Henry, Jr. can read to her.
