Jack Randy Martin's life experiences allow him to bring a wide variety of personalities, places, occupations, relationships and hobbies into his stories and characters. He was born in Texas, raised in the wilds of Upper Michigan, educated (college) in Ohio and has lived his adult life in California. In this journey, he has worked as paperboy, ice cream server, tour guide, truck stop attendant, pipeline worker, mechanic, radar/avionics engineer, service department manager, limousine chauffeur, computer software engineer and author. He is an adoptee and a cancer survivor, married 25 years with 5 children, 5 cats, 4 dogs, 3 sheep, 2 goats and a dove. Somewhere between career and family, he has managed to be a motorcycle racer, marathoner and triathlete. Each of his stories covers a diverse range of places, people and events, but one common underlying theme. His first novel, I Ran to Alva, centered around forgiveness. This novel, Heart of the Desert, focuses on grudges and their costs. The next one in the works, The Six, looks at how guilt impacts our lives. These and other core sentiments live in the heart of every human being, rich or poor, young or old, male or female, atheist or believer, and it is the exploration of these core sentiments that comprise the foundations of Jack Randy Martin's stories.
