J. D. Wyss (1743 to 1818) was an army chaplain with four sons. He wrote "The Swiss Family Robinson" to entertain them while teaching them important life lessons. The first English edition was translated by William Godwin in 1814 and has been a classic ever since. J. P. Linder is a writer and filmmaker.
