J.A. James is a North Carolina native. His professional repertoire includes a graphic design degree and teaching graphic design at a junior college for twelve years. When he's not busy outdoors, he's binge watching his favorite TV shows or listening to an eclectic music playlist and getting inspired for another story. James has always enjoyed writing. In high school, he took creative writing and wrote several short stories. His teacher urged him to submit "Geraniums" to the North Carolina Literary Festival. The two-page story won honorable mention. After that, it hit him. With a little ingenuity, I might have a talent for putting words and commas together. In 2014, he published his first book Affliction: A Collection of Short Stories About Bullies. Growing up in the North Carolina foothills, his attachment to the mountains comes naturally. His ancestral bloodline is an amalgamation of African, English, and Cherokee-a huge part in why he wrote The Divining. He hopes his book draws a wide range of fans-an incentive he can use to complete his trilogy. The Divining is not his first published work. It just happens to be the one he's most proud of. This book is a motley mix of fact, fiction, some personal experiences, and a little imagination. He is currently writing The Augur, the second tale in his series. See less
