J. Rick Turner, PhD, is an experimental psychologist who has spent 15 years conducting research in the field of Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine. His research has focused on the effects of stress on the cardiovascular system, and the possible role of stress-induced responses in the development of cardiovascular disease. He has published 50 scientific papers describing his collaborative research, two textbooks, and two previous edited volumes. His authored text entitled "Cardiovascular Reactivity and Stress: Patterns of Physiological Response "(New York: 1994) introduced the research methodology and findings of cardiovascular reactivity research to undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Turner has received research awards from the Society for Psychophysiological Research and the American Psychosomatic society. He is Founding Editor of the Sage Publications Series in Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology, and a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine. He lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he works as a Medical Editor in the Pharmaceutical industry. See less
