J.R. Waterbear is the pen name of Southern California writers John Pulver and Robert Jablon. Pulver's stories have appeared in various publications. He has won the Roselle Lewis Fiction Writing Award and co-hosts The Natural Muse, a group that connects authors with the joy and inspiration from writing in nature. Pulver knows the 1980s Hollywood music scene well. As a young punk, he haunted the clubs where his musician friends played and moshed his way into near-infamy. The highlight of this dissolute existence was being kicked out of the famous Starwood for using drugs (he wasn't; it just looked that way). Many years later, Pulver doesn't regret his wild youth and returns to it in spirit with "Hollywood Bodies." Jablon is a former journalist who lived a block or two down from Sunset and Vine. He owns a Les Paul replica electric guitar and, through hard work and passionate devotion, he has now learned eight chords and hopes to double that number in the coming years. He once saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Hollywood before they got famous. They weren't wearing their dong-socks. He thought they were too noisy. See less
