At age seventeen he dreamed of becoming a writer. He started his college education at the University of New York in Albany and finished at Adrian College in southern Michigan. After graduate school at Wayne State University in Detroit, John taught English in Farmington, Michigan for thirty-three years. He started his writing career when he retired.
