She is married to Eksteen Uys, a former lecturer at Stellenbosch University. They have two sons. She has a great love and respect for animals and believes that it is every person's duty to take care of the planet and the animals that live on it. She loves the simple things in life - good friends and family, the sea and all animals. She has compiled numerous reference books, language aids and multilingual dictionaries. Her books are great successes and her first book, which was published in 1994, has been reprinted and updated 15 times. All her books are still in print. See less
