Irene Joos, RN, PhD, is Associate Professor in the IST Department as well the Director of Online Learning at La Roche College, Pittsburgh, with a previous post as Director of Library and Instructional Technologies. Dr. Joos received a doctorate in Education and a master's in Medical-Surgical Nursing and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She has taught, and teaches, Office Automation, Management of Information Systems, Cyberspace, Computer Based Training, Virtual Communities and Social Media to all La Roche College students, and Nursing Informatics courses to undergraduate and graduate nursing students in on campus and online formats. She has also taught medical-surgical nursing, foundations, basic nursing concepts and theories, professional nursing role, and nursing informatics courses in diploma, baccalaureate, and masters programs. Dr. Joos currently supports online students and faculty and conducts training sessions for faculty in online teaching and using Blackboard. She focuses on the use of technology to help nurses work efficiently and effectively. Dr. Joos has previously published with Dr. Nelson, "Introduction to Computers for Health Professions" (2010).
