Irena Stanic Rasin is a freelance author, translator, and language instructor. She was born and raised in Croatia and has been living in the U.S. for longer than she has lived anywhere else. nik za odrastanje, co-authored with psychologist Latinka Basara, was published in Croatia in 2014. Irena's English translation of Gianna Manzini's Threshold (Sulla soglia), co-authored with Laura E. Ruberto, was published by Italica Press in 2016. In addition to her writing, Irena is a Co-founder and Director of the Croatian School of Boston in the metropolitan Boston area. She is also a member of the Croatian-American tamburitza band and chorus Pajdashi, which performs traditional Croatian folk songs. In 2009, the group released its first CD U kolo. Irena's community involvement includes co-founding of the PTO Thrift Shop for the Arlington Public Schools, for which in 2007 she was among the recipients of the George P. Faulkner Annual Citizens Award for Outstanding Service to Youth, presented by the Arlington Boys and Girls Club. For most of the year, Irena lives in Massachusetts with her amazing husband, their three beautiful children (one of whom is in college for most of the year), and their dog Toto. She spends summers on the stunning Adriatic Coast, and sometimes a year, or half-year in Zagreb, Croatia. See less
