Ira Kantrowitz-Gordon, PhD, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Brown University, a bachelor of science degree in nursing and a master's degree in nursing from University of Washington, and a PhD in nursing from Washington State University. Ira Kantrowitz-Gordon, PhD, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Brown University, a bachelor of science degree in nursing and a master's degree in nursing from University of Washington, and a PhD in nursing from Washington State University. He has been active in midwifery practice, teaching, and research for many years. His research focuses on mindfulness interventions during pregnancy and early parenting, reducing the stigma of perinatal opioid disorder, and increasing workforce diversity in midwifery and biomedical science. He has published in midwifery, nursing, and multidisciplinary journals. His awards include the American College of Nurse-Midwives Foundation Excellence in Teaching and Outstanding Peer Reviewer from the Journal of Midwifery & Women's Health. He has been a deputy editor for the Journal of Midwifery & Women's Health since 2021 and is a member of the Maternal Mortality Review Panel for Washington State.
