Ian Hartman is associate professor of history at University of Alaska, Anchorage. He is the author of In the Shadow of Boone and Crockett: The Politics of Race, Culture, and Representation in the Upland South (University of Tennessee Press, 2015) and co-editor of Imagining Anchorage: The Making of America's Northernmost Metropolis (University of Alaska Press, 2019).
