Ian Alan Holder, Ph.D. was a Professor of Microbiology, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Director, Department of Microbiology, Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Cincinnati, OH. He had a life long interest in food and all things food related. In preparation for retirement, he enrolled in a one year program offered by the Culinary Arts Department of Cincinnati State College where he completed 36 hours of coursework. Upon retiring to Red Bank, NJ, he started to work, on Saturdays, at Mumford's Culinary Center, a restaurant, cooking school and catering facility. This was not to start a second career but just to get a feel for what it would be like to work in a professional kitchen for a short while. The short while has turned into thirteen years and still continuing. Further, he started researching areas of food related subjects in which he had an interest: Cooking Tips, Food History and Food Trivia. These became the subjects of his book. See less
