Hermann Schmitz (Leipzig 1928 - Kiel 2021) is known as the founder of New Phenomenology and for his philosophy of the felt body ("Leib") and atmospheres. Author of an ambitious and far reaching "System of Philosophy" in ten volumes (1964-1980), he kept elaborating on his fundamental insights on atmospheres, feelings, space, felt body and consciousness in more than fifty volumes and many essays.
