Harry William Deal was just out of high school when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He served in the Pacific, first on a Navy tanker and later on a destroyer. He returned home a decorated sailor, though he doesn't consider himself a hero. After the war, Harry rose from manual laborer at Pan American Airways into management at Texas Instruments.
