HAROLD H. TITTMANN, Jr. (1893-1981), served as a soldier during World War I and, after recovering from serious injuries, joined the Foreign Service, ultimately rising to the rank of Career Ambassador. The manuscript was edited by his son, HAROLD H. TITTMANN III, who supplemented the manuscript with background information as well as his own childhood memories.
