HANS BECK is Professor and Chair of Greek History at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Arts at McGill University, Montréal. HANS BECK is Professor and Chair of Greek History at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Arts at McGill University, Montréal. He has published widely on the history and culture of ancient Greece, including Localism and the Ancient Greek City-State (2020), Federalism in Greek Antiquity (jointly edited with P. Funke, Cambridge, 2015) and A Companion to Ancient Greek Government (edited, 2013). He is the co-editor of Hermes and Hermes Einzelschriften, and of the series Antiquity in Global Context (Cambridge). Among other distinctions, Hans Beck is the recipient of the German Humboldt Foundation's Anneliese Maier Research Prize, an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute.
