Recent books have been on the cinema of directors Roberto Benigni, and Lina Wertmüller. Her most recent, From Terrone to Extracomunitario, New Manifestations of Racism in Italian Cinema, shifted her focus of study to identity politics and was the result of years of research and a two-year collaboration with the Italian Studies at Oxford University program, "Destination Italy".
