Gordon W Prange

The late Gordon W. Prange was a member of the American Occupation Forces in post-World War II Japan, where he was commissioned by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to write the official history of the war in the Pacific from Pearl Harbor to the Japanese surrender. After completing his service to the Navy he served in a civilian capacity from 1946 to 1951 as chief of General MacArthur's historical staff. He authored numerous works on the Pacific war, including "At Dawn We Slept".
