Glen Lyndon Dodds lives in Sunderland in the North East of England but was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe), where he spent most of his childhood. He has strong local roots, for his family has lived in Sunderland since at least the late 18th century. In addition to contributing articles to the 'Durham Archaeological Journal' and other academic publications, he has also written numerous articles for magazines (most notably 'The Northumbrian') and is also the author of several books, including 'Battles in Britain 1066-1746' and 'The Zulus and Matabele - Warrior Nations.' His leisure activities include playing the piano, cello and guitar. He also enjoys reading novels (favourite authors include A.J.
