Gertrude Frances Burton

My name is Gertrude Frances Burton. I was born in North Carolina and raised in Jamaica Queens New York City. As of the last nine years Iowa has been my home it's where I reside now. I consider myself a poet but I didn't discover that I had the gift or the ability to write poems or poetry until about ten years ago. That's when I wrote my very first poem. Through my poetry I hope to console, inspire, and encourage those who can relate. What I enjoy most besides writing is my family and cooking.
