George Sj Tyrrell
George Tyrrell, SJ (1861-1909) was a key figure in the Modernist controversy in the Catholic Church. Born in Dublin, into an Anglican family, he converted to Catholicism and joined the Jesuits. Among his published works are Medievalism: A Reply to Cardinal Mercier, The Autobiography of George Tyrrell, The Programme of Modernism, External Religion, and Tradition and the Critical Spirit.
