George McManus

George McManus (1882-1954) began his newspaper career at age thirteen, working for five dollars a week at the St. Louis Republic. He moved to New York in 1903, began Bringing Up Father in 1913, and became one of the wealthiest cartoonists in the world during the 1930s.
