Fr. George Papademetriou hails from Evrytania, Greece. His paternal grandfather was Georgios Papademetriou (also called Papadonikos) from Petralona. His maternal grandfather was Konstantinos Katsifas from Hohlia. In 1939, his father, Fr. Fr. George Papademetriou hails from Evrytania, Greece. His paternal grandfather was Georgios Papademetriou (also called Papadonikos) from Petralona. His maternal grandfather was Konstantinos Katsifas from Hohlia. In 1939, his father, Fr. Constantine Papademetriou, a priest and a teacher, came to America to serve the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in a parish and to teach Greek to children of Greek immigrants. Fr. George came to America several years later, after World War II. After high school he graduated from Holy Cross seminary in Brookline, MA and became a priest. While serving parishes in the U.S., Fr. George received a PhD and other graduate degrees and became the director of the library and professor at Hellenic College/ Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology for many years. He has published numerous books and articles on world religions, philosophy, hesychasm, and the Greek Orthodox faith and heritage. Now he is retired and emeritus. See less
