GENE GROSSMAN, Founder of the Audiobook Actors' Workshops Gene took advantage of his musical abilities to work his way through high school, college, and law school playing piano, bass, trombone, clarinet and banjo, and also appeared as a musician in seven major motion pictures. While slowly building his law practice, he purchased a 5-ton grip & light package and rented it out to independent film production companies. Always having been interested in boating, he moved onto his first boat, a 45-foot Chris Craft motor yacht in Marina del Rey California and years later, while serving as navigator on a yacht delivery from the U.S. to Tortola, wrote his first book, Celestial Navigation for the Complete Idiot (still a favorite with boaters and navies around the world). He used his own production equipment to shoot a 2-hour program on the subject and in so doing, unintentionally created the nautical video industry, a library of productions that grew to more than 40 titles. After 20 years as a trial attorney with his own 7-lawyer firm, and Dean of a private law school, Gene started writing novels: now retired, he spends most of his time in Marina del Rey California aboard his current yacht, where he created the popular 20-book series of Peter Sharp Legal Mysteries, plus over 20 non-fiction titles on various subjects ranging from Golf, to Deposition Preparation, to How to Write a Mystery Novel.
