G. Avery Lee first met Gardner Taylor in the late 1930s when both were pastors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The two have been friends for over 60 years. Rev. Lee was ordained in 1937. The author of more than fourteen books including "Living in Meantime, (Smythe & Helwys), he served for twenty years as pastor at St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans.
