Fred Katz is a retired Radiologist, Associate Professor of Radiology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and an accomplished photographer. He is dedicated to the advancement of Judaica studies and preserving the legacies of those who perished in the Holocaust. Dr. Katz served as a physician during the Vietnam War, receiving a Bronze Star and Army Commendation medal for his service during the war. During his time in Vietnam, he volunteered at a clinic in An Khe and a hospital in Quin Nohn. Those unforgettable experiences steered him to a path of communal and professional service and paved the foundation for this book, which has taken him around the world as he photographed over 100 memorials from Auschwitz to Moscow to New York. As a devoted photographer, to perfect his skills, he completed the Rocky Mountain School of Photography's intensive course that led him to master all phases of photography, including the processing and digital editing of his photographs. His photographs have been exhibited at the Breman Jewish Museum, the Atlanta Jewish Community Center, and various synagogues. Katz is also an accomplished speaker, having lectured for the Jewish Federations of North America, radiological societies, and medical schools. See less
