Author Frank Clark has worked for a family business in the forklift/material handling industry for 25+ years. When his twins, Christian and Hudson were around two, he began bringing them to his work on weekends. Frank would take them out in the warehouse and they would sit on his lap and ride around on the forklifts. They named one of the forklifts in the warehouse, Frankie. Frank began telling them stories at night about Frankie Forklift and all his fun friends. One night, Christian asked him if he could read a book to him about Frankie and he realized that there were no children's books in the market place about the forklift industry. That's what lead Frank to write Frankie Forklift and Friends: Frankie's First Day at Work. Frank followed that up with a coloring book, introducing Frankie Forklift's friends in the warehouse such as: Dudley Dump Hopper and Clarence Clamp Truck along with sixteen other characters. "Growing up, we all played with dump trucks, hot wheels and other toys, but never knew the world of forklifts/material handling existed." It is Frank's goal to introduce kids to an industry that may one day be a good opportunity for employment and is very interesting to young children, since there are so many different types of vehicles.
