Footie Fruits Productions is the collective name for the group of creatives behind the fantastic Children's Comic-Picture Book Series, "THE FOOTIE FRUITS". Made up of co-writers, G VIRDEE & JAGS DHILLON and co-illustrators, BALDEEP VIRDEE & VJ CHAND, this exciting new series is an infusion of their love of football, comic books and more football. As an experienced Primary School Teacher, G, often found that in his role and through sports he was able to engage pupils that were often deemed by others unsettled or difficult to work with. Yet, despite the values sports instilled, retaining academic focus was more a priority and lead him to find books as a useful tool to support this engagement; subsequently spending more time at the bookshelves or in the library. This got him thinking about his own childhood reading experiences and in turn, he encouraged the team to recall their own. They each identified a lack in fun and exhilarating sports stories, particularly for their target age group that appealed to both girls and boys. Looking at the skills they possessed as a group with G's educational background, Jagdeep's creative flair and wordplay, Baldeep's illustration style and VJ's professional Graphic Design ability; and was able to combine all the elements they loved about reading, comics and their knowledge of football to create 5 unique, adorable, football-crazy, team-spirited characters, which each have an embodiment of their personalities. They also felt it equally as important, each being from an Asian background to connect and celebrate nationalities through the competitiveness and camaraderie of the game, paying great emphasis to small cultural details embedded within the imagery or the speech styles, whilst perfectly capturing the hysteria and mania that can be felt when sitting in a stadium.
