"Contributor Biography - English Felix Pirson is a Classical Archaeologist. He holds a MPhil from Cambridge University, a PhD from Munich University and a postdoctoral lecture qualification from Leipzig University, where he is Honorary Professor. Since 2006 he is director of the German Archaeological Institute at Istanbul and head of the Pergamon Excavation (Bergama, Turkiye). He is senior fellow at the Institute of the Study of the Ancient World (New York University) and corresponding member of several archaeological institutes. His current research topics include Pergamon, Pompeii, ancient urbanism and historical human-environment interaction.Brigitta Schutt is a physical geographer. After graduation at Julius-Maximilians-Universitat Wurzburg she received a doctorate from RWTH Aachen University. She received her postdoctoral lecture qualification from Trier University for the subject geography. After employments as guest professor at the University of Manitoba and Bonn University she was appointed for the chair of Physical Geography at Freie Universitat Berlin in 2002. She is member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute. Her research focus is on water management, landscape archaeology, paleoenvironmental reconstruction and soil erosion.Th. Schulz studied architecture at the Technical University of Braunschweig. She worked as an assistant at the German Archaeological Institute in Athens for the excavation in Samos, then at the Institute for Building History at the Technical University of Munich, where she also received her doctorate in 1994. From 1995-2015, she was Professor of Architectural History, Monument Conservation and Historical Building Research at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg, where she introduced the Master's degree programme in Historical Building Research in 2010. Since 2015, she has headed the Department and the Master's degree programme of Historical Building Research and Monument Conservation at TU Berlin. She is a full member of the German Archaeological Institute. Her research focuses on Hellenistic and Roman architecture in the eastern Mediterranean. Er habilitierte in Leipzig, wo er als Honorarprofessor lehrt. Seit 2006 leitet er die Abteilung Istanbul des Deutschen Archaologischen Instituts und die Pergamongrabung. Er ist Senior Fellow des Institute of the Study of the Ancient World der New York University und korrespondierendes Mitglied mehrerer archaologischer Institute. Seine aktuellen Forschungsthemen umfassen Pergamon, Pompeji, antike Stadtkultur sowie historische Mensch-Umwelt Interaktionen.Die Physische Geographin Brigitta Schutt hat nach Abschluss ihres Diplom-Studiums an der Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universitat Wurzburg an der RWTH Aachen promoviert.
