Eric F Goldman

Goldman was born in Washington, D.C., and studied at Johns Hopkins University. He first taught there after receiving his Ph.D. in history, then moved in 1940 to Princeton University, where he spent the rest of his teaching career. From 1963 to 1966 he was special adviser to President Lyndon B. Johnson; he later resigned his position. He became the Rollins Professor of History at Princeton in 1962 and taught modern American history there until his retirement in 1985.
