Kane, the daughter of American diplomats, spent her early years in the Middle East and graduated from the Madeira School in the Washington, DC area, and Harvard University. She gave up her decade-long career in the performing arts to become a scientist, and received her naturopathic degree, as well as her master's level training in acupuncture and Eastern medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA.
