Edward Bunting
Edward Bunting (1773-1843) was the first systematic collector of Irish folk songs. He is noted for his transcriptions from a 1792 meeting in Belfast of the last of the old Irish harpers, where he wrote down the music as the harpers played and later revised it for performance on the pianoforte.
