Earl Derr Biggers

Earl Derr Biggers (1884 -1933) is a famous American novelist and playwright best known for creating the Chinese detective Charlie Chan. He wrote "Seven Keys to Baldpate" more than a decade before he published his Chan series, however, and it too was a popular best-seller. The book formed the basis for seven films.
