Duncan Graham is a writer, senior counsel at the New South Wales Bar and medical doctor. He is the co-author of Why Patients Sue Their Doctors. After changing careers from medicine to law, Duncan worked for a large national law firm where he was part of a team representing an asbestos cement manufacturing company. As a barrister, he also acted for well known Australian companies embroiled in dust diseases litigation. His practice then became increasingly focused on medical negligence and medical law, appearing mainly for plaintiffs in civil litigation or for families in coronial inquests into deaths following medical treatment. He has also appeared for plaintiffs in major class action litigation involving medical devices and pharmaceuticals, such as faulty hip implants and vaginal mesh. Through his work in asbestos litigation, Duncan has acquired an exhaustive knowledge of the scientific literature about asbestos-related diseases. He has cross-examined, examined and interviewed many of the leading experts in the world on the subject. He has also cross-examined many victims of asbestos diseases, sometimes at their bedside. He has been involved in a number of test cases about dust diseases. He is uniquely placed to tell the story of asbestos exploitation and the legal fights that ensued. No story has been written by someone with inside knowledge or knowledge of both sides of the litigation. See less
