His past research has examined attention, long-term memory, concept learning, and cognitive processes in writing. His current work focuses on working memory in written composition and hemispheric differences in the semantic processing of language production. He has authored numerous technical journal articles and book chapters plus several books, including The Psychology of Writing (1994), Cognitive Psychology, 2 nd Ed.
