A member of the Society for American Baseball Research, he also authored Portrait of a Franchise: An Intimate Look at the Cleveland Indians in the Rockin' Sixties. In 2009, as CEO of the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, he collaborated with Pacific Coast League President Branch Rickey III and Aces manager Brett Butler to welcome the Reno Aces as the PCL's newest team.
