When Dolly McElhaney returned home from the first day of school, she announced to her mother that she wanted to be a teacher, and she never swerved from that goal. She holds the equivalent of a degree in Theology from the Apostolic Bible Institute, as well as a B.S. in Elementary Education and Spanish from Macalester College, both in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and an M.Ed from Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN. She owned a private kindergarten in North Dakota and taught school in Minnesota and Tennessee. While living in Nashville, TN, she worked as a free-lance copy editor for Thomas Nelson Publishers. From 1969 into the early 1980's, she wrote over 400 stories for Sunday school literature for Word Aflame Press. Married for 57 years, she and her husband owned horses for 38 years. Avid travelers, she and her husband have visited every state in the United States and 16 foreign countries. Mom to three, Grandee to six, she delights in weaving her experiences into tales for kids of all ages -- adults seem to enjoy reading her stories, too!
