Diana R. Tuke was born in Dorset in 1932. The daughter of a naval officer, she spent her childhood following her father from one commission to another. She was educated at Roehampton, Stamford Hall near Rugby and Woldlingham. At the age of 21 she suffered a serious road-rage attack which eventually left her crippled. Despite this, she later gained the B.H.S. Prelim Instructors Certificate at Porlock. Despite being written off as incurable by her doctors, she prayed hard and fought back, refusing to resign herself to disability. She continued to pursue her interests in farming, showing and horse eventing and, eventually, following surgery on her spine, overcame her disability. She also became a successful freelance journalist for country and equestrian magazines in Great Britain and the United States. In addition, she also reported for The Daily Telegraph and wrote for many other publications. Diana R. Tuke is the author of numerous successful reference books and novels based around the English countryside and her beloved four legged friends. See less
