Dexter Allen grew up in San Diego, California, and currently lives and writes in Ensenada, Baja California. His latest book, Dawn at Tepeyac, is the culmination of a lifetime of reading, writing and questioning; of traveling and of experiencing life in many different cultures. Over his lifetime, he has lived in many parts of the world, soaking up culture and wisdom from many different sources. In Seville and other regions of Spain, he gained a love and understanding of the Spanish soul; in Southern Mexico and Central America, he lived in villages among the indigenous peoples and spent extended periods of time in Benedictine and other monasteries, giving him deep and sympathetic insights into both indigenous and Catholic cultures. The aesthetic theology of Hans Urs von Balthasar and his own love of fine music have had a great impact on his thinking and writing. He has published published a trilogy of novels on pre-conquest Mexico and is currently readying his next work, a historical novel on the last day in the life of General Custer. See less
