Deborah Vess
Deborah Vess is a Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies at Georgia College & State University. She holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of North Texas, and is an expert on medieval Church history. Deborah Vess is a Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies at Georgia College & State University. She holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of North Texas, and is an expert on medieval Church history. Dr. Vess has published articles in The American Benedictine Review, Word and Spirit, Mystics Quarterly, The Modern Schoolman, and The Encyclopedia of Monasticism. She is an advocate of educational technology, and has published several articles on the topic in The History Teacher, Teaching History, Inventio, and other publications. In addition to numerous local awards for teaching, Dr. Vess was named a Distinguished Professor of Teaching and Learning by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents in 1996. In 2001, she received the University System's Board of Regents Research in Undergraduate Education Award. Dr. Vess has twice received an Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development, and was named a Carnegie Scholar with the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 1999.
